As part of the UNC System, senior Leadership at UNC Charlotte is comprised of the Chancellor, the Board of Trustees, the Chancellor's Cabinet and Staff. The Faculty Council, Staff Council, UNC Charlotte Alumni and Foundation Boards and the Student Government Association are also involved in governance and decision-making.
UNC Charlotte's Faculty Council provides leadership for faculty governance. The Council, which includes one member of each academic unit on campus, is charged with setting faculty policies to ensure the highest quality instruction and scholarship at UNC Charlotte.
Joel D. Avrin is the current Faculty Council president. Dr. Avrin actively shares in University governance, taking a non-voting seat at open sessions of UNC Charlotte Board of Trustees meetings.
UNC Charlotte's Staff Council invests its energy in maintaining a high-quality working environment for the University's staff members. The Council works with University administration on matters that concern the staff and hosts a number of events each year to build community among University staff.
Celeste Corpening is the current Staff Council Chair. Ms. Corpening actively shares in University governance, taking a non-voting seat at open sessions of UNC Charlotte Board of Trustees meetings.
