Michael L. Wilson is Vice President and General Counsel of Northwood Ravin. Prior to joining Northwood Ravin, Wilson was a partner and Litigation Practice Group Leader at Johnston, Allison, & Hord, PA, in Charlotte, specializing in commercial/business law, construction law, and real property and non-compete covenants. Over the course of his legal practice, Wilson was twice named one of the top 100 attorneys in the State of North Carolina, and in 2009 Business North Carolina magazine named Wilson the state’s top attorney for construction law. Wilson was the co‑author of the Construction Claims chapter in the North Carolina Construction Law Desk Book of the North Carolina Bar Association while in private practice.
Wilson is a 1993 graduate of UNC Charlotte and a 1996 graduate of the UNC School of Law. While at UNC Charlotte he served as an alumni ambassador and as student body president during his junior year. As student body president, he played a critical role in working with the students, the University, and the State Legislature in bringing the Student Activities Center/Dale F. Halton Arena to fruition. At the UNC School of Law, Wilson served as Chief Justice of the Moot Court and as Attorney General of the Honor Court. He graduated Order of the Barristers from UNC-Law in 1996 and was awarded the James William Morrow Award for his service to the Moot Court. He was also one of eight graduating students named to the Davis Society for academic and personal excellence and a willingness to serve for the betterment of the UNC School of Law and its faculty and students.
Wilson has served on the Board of Trustees since 2012. He has in the past served on the Alumni Association Board of Governors, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Advisory Council, and in the University’s scholarship student interview and awards process. He has also taught business law as an adjunct professor in the UNC Charlotte MBA program.
