Elizabeth M. “Betty” Turner Doster assumed her role as special assistant to the chancellor for constituent relations at UNC Charlotte on Dec 13, 2010. She has primary responsibility for fostering, supporting, and expanding the University’s relationships with the state, regional, and local governmental and non-governmental organizations that can strengthen the University in its ability to deliver educational and research programs in support of its mission. She reports jointly to Chancellor Philip Dubois and Niles Sorensen, Vice Chancellor for University Advancement.
Formerly senior vice president for public policy at Bank of America, Ms. Doster also served four years as senior vice president for public affairs at Springs Industries, in Ft. Mill, S.C., and as public affairs director with Coca-Cola Bottling Co., Consolidated in Charlotte.
Among many professional associations, Doster has served as a member of the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce Government Relations Council, member of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee and as a director of the North Carolina Center for Public Policy. Doster also serves on the boards of the YWCA of the Central Carolinas and the First Tee of Charlotte. In 2009, she was the recipient of the Charlotte Business Journal Women in Business Award.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from UNC Chapel Hill.
