David Hauser, MBA ’77, is a retired business executive. Hauser began working at Duke Energy in 1973 and retired from the position of chief financial officer in 2009. During his tenure with Duke he managed the company’s fleet, warehousing, and procurement divisions and served as senior vice president of global asset development as well as senior vice president and treasurer.
Hauser left Duke Energy to become chairman and CEO of FairPoint Communications Inc. and retired from FairPoint in 2010.
Hauser continues to invest his time and expertise to support up-and-coming entrepreneurs. Hauser was also a driving force behind 49ers football, serving as one of the executive chairs of the 49ers football fundraising team. The new Hauser Alumni Pavilion—an 8,000‑square-foot brick and steel structure used for pre‑game alumni gatherings and other events—was recently named in recognition of Hauser and his wife, Nancy.
